Sharon M. Olson
BA. MA, MsEd

Mrs. Olson holds degrees in music, English, and educational administration. Her teaching career spans 46 years and several curriculums with specialization in the fields of English language, composition, literature, rhetoric, research, and critical thinking. She has taught several courses in test preparation for the SAT and ACT examinations. With her experience on the secondary level with high school juniors and seniors, she has assisted many students with college applications, recommendations, and essays. Her expertise gives her the ability to easily identify a student’s learning difficulties and weaknesses in order to successfully help them achieve their learning goals.

• Emphasizes test taking skills, builds vocabulary, improves critical thinking and reasoning

• Gives AP student additional preparation with emphasis on critical thinking, synthesis, analysis and composition skills.

• Personalized assistance with application essays and attention to specific admission requirements for each college or university.

Compositions/Research

• Personalized assistance with application essays and attention to specific admission requirements for each college or university.
• Guides student through research assignment from developing a valid thesis, organization of argument and proof, data analysis for support, final formatting with bibliography and citations.

We will prepare individualized lessons to help students:

• Improve in English, literature, humanities, and other curricula.
• Prepare for PSAT, SAT, ACT and SAT subject tests
• Assist students with the college application process including writing the essays, filling out admission forms, etc.
• Complete the research or term paper assignment
• Study for Advanced Placement tests with practice and synthesis exercises
